Chief Deputy Biss attends the Greater Lafayette 2025 Top Cop Awards

Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Jason Biss recently attended the Drive Sober of Greater Lafayette 2025 Top Cop Awards, an annual event honoring officers who have demonstrated exceptional dedication in combating impaired driving.

This year, 18 officers from law enforcement agencies across Tippecanoe County were recognized for each making 20 or more Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) arrests. Collectively, these officers were responsible for more than 1,150 OWI arrests over the past year, reflecting a significant and ongoing effort to remove impaired drivers from local roadways.

Chief Deputy Biss delivered remarks during the ceremony, expressing gratitude for the officers’ diligence and professionalism. He emphasized the substantial time and effort required to conduct thorough impaired driving investigations, noting that these cases often involve complex technical components. He also highlighted the critical role officers play in working alongside deputy prosecutors, particularly in clearly explaining investigative details that are essential to securing convictions.

In addition, Chief Deputy Biss acknowledged the broader collaboration within the criminal justice system, recognizing that successful outcomes depend on the coordinated efforts of law enforcement, prosecutors, and other key partners.

He concluded by underscoring the broader impact of these enforcement efforts, stating that removing impaired drivers from the road not only prevents potential harm but also sends a strong message that such behavior will not be tolerated. These actions ultimately contribute to safer streets and a stronger, more secure community for all residents.
